WATER TREATMENT PLANT BACK IN FULL PRODUCTION

For immediate release.

A new pump has been installed ahead of schedule at the Water Treatment Plant after one of the main pumps, which supplies treated water to the reservoirs, failed four weeks ago.

Since then, the Water Treatment Plant's capacity to meet consumption demands has been finely balanced. The heat over the past week caused water levels in the two tower reservoirs to drop to as low as 15 meters, resulting in lower town water pressure.

General Manager David Neeves says,

“The new water pump at the Water Treatment Plant has been installed on Friday night, with the reservoirs completely filling over the weekend. The town water supply has now resumed normal operational status.”

“Consumption during the appeal period was reduced by around 1 megalitre per day, avoiding the need for enforced water restrictions. This has been a concerted effort by all, particularly with the recent hot weather and Council extends a sincere thankyou to all of Gilgandra’s residents.”
