The countdown is on! In just one month, the Goin' to Gil Weekend Festival will bring Gilgandra alive with a spectacular array of events, entertainment, and community spirit from 27-29 September 2024. This is the perfect time to experience the very best of what our Gilgandra has to offer over an action-packed weekend that's not to be missed! 

Kathryn Larkin, shares the excitement on behalf of the Goin’ to Gil Weekend and Under the Gums Festival Planning Crew about the festival's positive impact on the region: 

"It’s been incredible working with such engaged and enthusiastic members of the Planning Crew, and their ideas and commitment are instrumental in bringing together this weekend full of events and activities to showcase the Gilgandra Region and our #LocalLegends! With the good vibes and great times planned in Gilgandra, we encourage the whole community to be involved in what will be an incredible weekend for family, friends and visitors! Kicking off on Friday, 27 September, the Goin' to Gil Weekend offers something for everyone. Whether you're a local or travelling from afar, gather your crew and prepare for a memorable experience filled with fun, culture, and entertainment.

  • Goin' to Gil Street Parade: Witness the heart and soul of Gilgandra with energy and vibrancy parading through Miller Street
  • Coo-ee Call Competition: Celebrate our heritage by participating in or cheering on this iconic Gilgandra tradition.
  • CWA Markets and Watermelon Eating Competition: Enjoy friendly competition and delicious treats in true community spirit.
  • Gilgandra Tractor & Machinery Club Show & Shine and Swap Meet: Explore an impressive display, and maybe find a treasure or two!
  • Live #LocalLegends Entertainment and Busking: Discover amazing talent from our region with performances throughout the weekend.
  • Interactive Mural Painting & More: Get involved in creating lasting art that celebrates our community's creativity and collaboration.

  • Windmill Walk and Talk, Colour Run! Get active (and colourful!) along our Windmill Walk Sunday morning.

  • Gilgandra Services Club: Friday Night Spinna Winna and raffles

  • Sporties After Party: Keep the Saturday night going at the Sporties with DJ Luscious.

  • Royal Hotel: Sunday Sesh @ the Royal.

  • Country pubs and clubs: Activities from bowling to gold, and foods throughout the Region over the whole weekend.

Spotlight Event: 'Under the Gums Gilgandra' 

On Saturday evening, 28 September, the festival reaches new heights with the ‘Under the Gums’. Set against the stunning backdrop of Gilgandra's iconic gum trees, along the banks of the Castlereagh River, this event brings together an incredible lineup for a night of unforgettable performances!
