AUSTRALIA DAY AMBASSADOR ANNOUNCED

For immediate release.

On Sunday, 26 January 2025, Gilgandra will come together as a community to reflect, respect and celebrate – because we are all part of the story.

Come along and hear from our Australia Day Ambassador, Dr. Clio Cresswell, as she joins us for our Australia Day celebrations in Gilgandra.

Dr Clio Cresswell is a mathematician, writer and media personality. Currently, Clio is a faculty member of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Sydney, her research interests focus on the evolution of mathematical thought and the role of mathematics in society. The fascination is how this abstract thinking surrounds us from Engineering to Medicine to Artificial Intelligence. Communicating mathematics has become integral to her work, where Clio is now called on for comment by media worldwide.

Clio is proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador and to visit the Gilgandra Region and join in with our community celebrations.

Australia Day Ambassadors generously volunteer their time and share their Australian story at hundreds of community events on Australia Day. Our Ambassadors continue to inspire communities where they become a guest of honour and participate in activities as diverse as the communities themselves.

Join us in welcoming Clio to the Gilgandra community this Australia Day, and take part in all the community activities and events happening throughout the long weekend!
