Council manages six disability properties in Gilgandra. Some years ago Council’s Disability Services Committee, recognising the competitive NDIS environment, thought it was necessary to provide modern purpose-built accommodation. In May this year Council was extremely proud to officially open its third purpose-built accommodation project, which the Mayor, Cr Doug Batten, describes as “the jewel in Gilgandra’s crown”. 

The complex comprises three x 3 bedroom units and two x 2 bedroom units (self contained) plus a common area/ communal kitchen and office and caters for up to 13 clients with space for staff support on a sleepover shift.  This project was fully funded through Orana Living, a division of Gilgandra Shire Council and has been certified as a Gold Level Livable Housing Design. The new complex supersedes a rented Department of Housing property.
