Hunter Park Playground

A New Playground for Hunter Park

Gilgandra Shire Council is seeking community feedback on designs for the new playground equipment to be installed in Hunter Park. Council has completed a formal quotation process and selected two options to present to the community. The community is asked to indicate their preferred option and provide feedback via an online questionnaire on Council’s website wwww.gilgandra.nsw.gov.au or Council’s Facebook page. The community feedback will be used to assist Council to make its final determination.

Council is currently looking at options for the existing equipment but any items that can be moved and are in an acceptable condition will be relocated to other parks or locations in the shire.

General Manager, David Neeves said Council is keen to hear from the community about which design they prefer.

“This is a significant investment of $160,000 from Council with additional funds of $40,000 from a State Government grant. The project will be used by a significant number of our residents and we would really appreciate their feedback.”

The two designs have been selected on a range of criteria including price, range of equipment, meeting a range of age groups and also the fact the designs include items that are suitable for all abilities.

In addition to the online consultation, targeted consultation and feedback is being held with specific interest groups that use Hunter Park and experts within our community who deal with children’s development and education. Residents are invited to a free sausage sizzle Council will hold in Hunter Park on Thursday 15 June from 3pm until 5pm. Council staff will be available to discuss the designs.

The community feedback is welcome until Tuesday 20 June 2017 with a decision to be made at the June meeting to be held on 27 June 2017. The aim is to have the new playground be constructed shortly after.
